Invariably Give Preference to Safeness When Making Decision on Crib Bedding For Your Child
Having a newborn in your home is the most thrilling experience, but at the same time can cause a lot of anxiety. Naturally you’re thrilled to become a parent, but probably also a bit concerned about how your home might present hazards to your baby. In particular, hazards are often overlooked in the baby’s crib. Sadly, each year there are thousands of babies that are hurt or killed because of badly arranged crib decorations and baby bedding. Though there a few explanations for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), with proper care it can be avoided.
You want a bedding set for your baby that is attractive, and there are a lot of matching sets out there, but you need to be smart when you choose babies bedding sets. Baby bedding should be laundered with detergent that is formulated especially for babies before they it is used. You never know where blankets have been before they were purchased and something as simple as bug-spray upwind of the blankets could hurt your child.
Baby nursery decor and baby bedding sets should be used with quality mattresses because a cheap mattress might have a lining that will tear and expose springs that might hurt your baby. If you notice even a small amount of wear, replace the crib mattress as soon as possible. If you use a mattress pad, make sure it fits snugly and securely under the crib sheets. If the sheets are stretched too tightly and are prone to snapping up, the mattress is too thick and needs to be replaced.
Check over your baby’s crib every time you use it, look for loose strings, rips or tears, so your baby is safe. A crib bumper can stop your baby from rubbing on the hard rails of a crib, but make sure the bumper is tied securely and there are no hanging flaps or strings.
There should be very few toys be in the crib in general, and none at all while the baby is asleep. Although toys like stuffed animals may seem innocuous, they can be very dangerous if they end up against the baby’s face. You should keep an eye on your baby while he or she is playing with toys, and be sure to remove all toys from the crib before your baby sleeps. Infants do not need pillows but if you feel she’ll be more comfortable with her head a little elevated you can find a foam wedge designed for this purpose. You can buy mesh canopies for some kinds of cribs that will help keep out insects and household pets.

Please do not recommend foam wedges for pillows for infants. Any item including a blanket, a pillow, a stufed toy or crib bumper could suffocate a baby or leave so little air that the baby rebreathes his exhalations and precipitate a SIDS event. The American Academy of Pediatrics is quite clear on this, nothing in the crib.
Thanks very much.
