If my Grandmother is a twin what are my chances of having twins?
I’m curious. I’ve heard that sometimes the fraternal, (not identical) twin gene can skip a generation. My Grandmother is a fraternal twin- and I’m not pregnant yet but I’m wordering my chances of having twins?? My mother has been teasing me about it for a few years now..lol.
i hear it skips a generation and in my family thats what happened….my maternal grandmother had two sets of twins and i am the first one of her grandchildren to have twins….i think it is a gene that makes the women ovulate more than one egg at a time, resulting in fraternal twins….ask your gyno….maybe they can help you out with having twins…good luck…

Well for me my grandmother had twins and I heard it skips a generation too, so I don’t know if that means that it skipped my mom and that I might have twins, or of it means that it skips me and my children might…tricky tricky, sorry I wasn’t very much help.

I have 3 sets of twins in my dad’s side and none in my mum’s. However, my mom gave birth to twins and now I am pregnant with twins. There are no twins in my husband’s side at all. So the twin gene need not skip a generation. Normally, the mother passes her twin gene to her daughter. Even after my 1st pregnancy, my gyn (who happens to be my hubby’s uncle) told me that I have a 50-50 chance of having twins.
Everyone is so bloody excited!!! Especially my mum!!
