How do parents tell their twins apart?

How do parents of identical twins tell them apart if they look EXACTLY the same?
They are looking at them all day so they notice the slight differences that other people would not.

My mom and dad had identical twins as foster children for a couple of weeks, they were newborns, and you can just tell. I mean, I didn’t even spend all that much time with them and I could tell one from the other no problem, even though I couldn’t tell exactly what was different. It was just kind of this instinctive knowledge.
