Why when having twins do parents want to?
have matching names or start with the same letter ect
I never understood this,is it because its ‘cute’
or what?
I don’t mean to offend anyone
Im just wondering why.
I don’t know, strangley my twins are named Emma and Annabelle, but my first two boys who are eleven months apart are named Dilyn and Dustyn. Maybe I had that "cute and unique" thing out of my system. I sure do regeret it though. Noone spells their names right and it really makes life much harder as evryone tends to get them confused.

I asked someone on here once why they wanted the names to match. They edited their question with the answer: "because there twins duh" Yes they even used "there" but anyway..
Maybe some people think they have to? But really I think people just think it’s cute. "They look alike so they have to be named alike and even dress alike…it’s twice the cuteness! Ohmigosh’

I don’t know! Probably, at the time, they think that it will be easier for people to remember.. but then when their children grow up and go to school, the see that it’s actually more difficult, because it’s harder to match the name to the person.
I knew a Katie and Klara, and even though their names weren’t matching, everyone had the hardest time figuring out who was who.. and because the names were both "K," it was an easy tongue twister..

Cuz they think it’s cute. What you said. Carley and Marley! Tina and Lina! So cute! Barf. Those are the same parents who buy all matching clothes.
And then wonder why they hit 15, one cuts off all her hair, dyes it black and wears Goth clothes, and the other grows her hair long, dresses like a hippie, just to have their own identity.

i have no idea.
I see where you’re coming from, my mom made the same mistake. she named my sisters (who are twins) Jessica and Jenna and even though they don’t sound much alike, they start and end with the same letters.
My mom has regretted it since they were born. Everyone calls them by the wrong name- and it doesn’t help at all that they look exactly the same.
My mom doesn’t know why she did it either. Maybe they did think it was "cute"…i’ve never thought of that but it is probably true.
thanks!

I don’t know, but I think it’s kind of dumb. Or when every kid in the family’s name has to start with the same letter. So people can go "Oh, that’s cute"? How about wow, that’s dumb.

Lol I wonder the same thing. My brothers are twins. Michael Andrew and Matthew Aaron…. so not only do they look alike, but they have the same initials. It really confuses people and creates a lot of problems.

I have no idea. These people who live down the street from me named their twin girls Aunica and Monica.. It’s kind of ridiculous..

lol It’s not just with first letter, it can be endings too. My mom is actually a triplet, and the names of all three are Juanita, Loretta, and Rita. When they were referred to as a group, they were called ‘Nita, ‘Retta, Rita.
I guess parents pick similar names because they tend to group the two together, so they pick names that sound good together. Just like parents of single children take the time to pick a first and middle name that flow well together, I’m sure parents of multiples tend to do the same, just with two completely different people. Remember that they will often refer to them as *blank* and *blank*, especially in their earlier lives.
