My great grandmother gave birth to 3 sets of twins and 2 single births. What are my chances of having twins?

my older sister is having boy/girl twins, and they’re due in just a couple of weeks! she asked me (since her only sister) to help name them. i have a couple of names in mind, and i wanted to hear 2nd opinions…

Her sons weren’t twins. She had twin brothers, identical. I really want to have twins when I’m older so I just really want to know if I have any chances having twins. And es, i know that if you eat yams or anything dairy you have a better chance of having twins.

Conceiving identical twins is a totally random act - it doesn’t run in the family (as some believe).
Identical twins happen when a fertilized egg splits into two and it happens totally at random - nothing can increase your chances of having identical twins.
Fraternal twins happen when 2 eggs are released and they simultaneously get fertilized.
This *can* run in the family IF the women in your family have a gene factor that causes them to release more than one egg per month on a regular basis.
The only other way to insure that you conceive fraternal twins is by taking fertility drugs - those will cause you to release more than one egg, however, you may also end up with higher multiples (triplets, quadruplets, etc.)

I have 7 children ( 15months to 15yrs )my youngest being 15month old twins and I am about 4months pregnant AGAIN! Doc said I could not have anymore, so this was a shock. I am now wanting to know if anyone has had TWINS then another baby - how it was after birth? I run a business and LOVE my kids and have always coped with new additions.. I am just worried how it will be with my twins and a new baby! As they wont even he 2yrs old!. The older ones know the drill and love babies.. but my little twin girls take up a LOT of my time! Any advise out there from anyone who has been in my position?

Yes, it is going to be hard at first but the whole family will adjust. You are lucky to have the older children who can help with the little ones. The twins are at an age where they will probably love the new baby….toddlers usually do. Some day you will look back and wonder how you did it but the thing is you WILL do it. Try not to worry too much and enjoy your large family….not many people are lucky enough to have so many children anymore. (I’m jealous!!)

i found out a week ago (over FB) that my sis is pregnant. shes younger im 20 and she is 16.
she no longer lives with my family because a few years ago she started doing drugs and partying and being in gangs.. so she went to live at her fathers apt.

its an incredibly long story.

anyway she is having twins .3 mo. its insane .. .i’m pro choice. and anyway this could ruin her life.. i know my little sister is the most reckless irresponsilble being onthe planet.. shes never picked up a thing.. trust me ive lived with her.

the father of the kids is out of the picture .. hes my age and he told her he doesnt want them.
her father and my mother support her and they are telling her its going to be fine .

me and my older sister are pretty stunned. (shes 22). we think this is a huge mistake and that she should be told the turth and not led to believe that having kids is a walk in the park .

but we havent talked about it . my family is very secretive .. we dont have a healthy dynamic or any communicatioon and i was sick of it .

i called my younger sister last night and asked her why she chose not to abort.
she said that she hadnt known she was pregnant until 3 months in the pregnancy .and that she felt she couldnt kill the babies.

anyway she also started yelling crying and cursing at me .. i told her she was making a big mistake and that she should have aborted. she said "they are just kids BIG DEAL".
she said she didnt care about my opinion. .there was alot more said about the past which is a really long story .. but after i got off the phone with her she called my mom and told her i’d said she needs to get an abortion .

I didnt even say that . i told her i think she should have and i told her the truth .

no one has been honest with her .

Anyway my mom went crazy mad . she woke me up at 230 am and she wouldnt listen to me at all she kept telling me it wasnt my business.
mymom is highly immature and very juvenile. during this "conversation" she continued in mimmicking me while i talked and she kept interrupting me .all i could see was her anger and i was calm .

this is frequently how my mom confronts things with me which is why we arent close at all.

Anyway she said as logn as her parents support her i dont matter and that i have no right to say anything to my sister because im an adult and my little sister isnt.

I told her that my little sister needs to be an aadult because she has made an adult decision and furthurmore i can tell anyone what i feel if iwant to . and at least im being honest .. its unhealthy to lie and be fake about .and my mom wants me to be fake and act like its no big deal.

The question is do you think i was wrong to tell my little sister what i felt about her decision?

no i wasnt attacking her.. ijust told her it was abad chioce in my opinion .. and that she should have aborted. thats all then we were talking about other porblems which i cant get into .. no way would i shove my opinion on anyone .. anyway i will leave her alone .. i jsut wanted to get it out there. but im not having anything to do with it anymore . which is why im not shoving anything .i have accepted her choice.

I am pro-choice too, but that does not mean I support someone shoving their opinion in my face. It is very offensive of you to demean your sister over not choosing abortion, the whole point of being pro choice is supporting her right to choose, even if you don’t agree with her, you should still support her. Yes, having kids is tough, and yes you should not sugar coat it for her. But neither should you attack or abandon her. She made her bed, she will sleep in it, and if her parents are willing to help her support the babies then really, is it any of your business?

Can you ever get your figure back after having twins?
I am 38 weeks and so huge. I exercised throughout - but last week had to switch to swimming and walking… But I am still so big and my tummy has started getting stretch marks.. Is this he end of he road for bikinis?

I have four girls. My older two..I never got my figure back. When I was pregnant with my twins, who are now 15 months old, I gained 45 pounds (less than with my other two), and went to 39 weeks. They weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz (20 inches) and 6 lbs 14 oz (23 inches). I was actually smaller after I had them, then when I got pregnant with them. Now I already had a ton of stretch marks from my oldest who I gained 75 lbs with (she weighed 10 lbs 7 oz), so no advice on that, but within 3 months of having them I was 2 sizes smaller. Trust me, with all the lifting, bending, and moving you do with newborn twins, that will be all the exercise you need

ok. heres the problem. im 14 years old. turning 15 on july 30. I live with my mom and I cant stand it. She threatens to call the police on me. She says I can leave and then she says I call the police if I do. I tell her all the time to call the police on me to when she starts to threaten me. No one in my family likes me because of the way I want to live my life. They want me to be some little bitch that caters to everyone. So i cant really live with anyone and if I moved in with my dad I would end up being arrested for beating the shit out of him for abusing me when I was a kid. Also he is just an all around bad parent.. My grandparents are a big part of my family and my mom lies to them constantly. Is there any way I could live by myself with an income. I was watching a show where these child celebrities moved out at like my age because of the harassment from there parents and the court agreed on it. No of my family will let me move in with them. My mom will start to punch me but shes a girl so they dont hurt or anything. She antangonzises me to hit her becuz I get all pissed. I no its wrong to hit a girl and I dont want to go to jail for it but Im seriously about to rock her shit. Pleaz help. I dont want to run away and if I say im going to stay with my friends for a few weeks she wont let me and says she will call the police on me. Im just fed up with her and my whole family. My twin sisters piss me off to. They purposely mess with me and when I get pissed at them my mom flips. There both nine. My mom has a total of 4 kids. I’m 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and already showing a bit. I’ve been sick non-stop for 2 and a half weeks, and I got a positive pregnancy test 4 days before I was to miss a period. I got an early ultrasound at 4 weeks 5 days because of some spotting, and one sac was seen. My hcg levels are off the charts. At 4 weeks, 4 days: 8,000. At 5 weeks on the nose:18,000. Twins run on both my side as well as my husband’s side, but at the sonogram at 4 weeks 5 days, they only saw one sac. The nurse asked if multiples run in my family, because with beta’s at 8,000 that day, we should have been able to see a baby and a heartbeat unless it was a multiple pregnancy, in which case it may be too early to see the other sac.
Any one else experience something similar and it end up being twins? I won’t get another ultrasound until May 21. I’ll be 6 weeks, 5 days.

It’s possible the same thing happened to a good friend of mine. They only saw one baby and heard one heart and she kept asking if they were sure and they said yeah. A few weeks later she went for an ultrasound and they said "you know you’re having twins right"
