Anyone having twins? Need help.?

Im 27 weeks pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. Im so excited, but i’ve started to worry that my bump is too small. You can tell i’m pregnant but i only look very small and i always thought you are bigger with twins.

Im 5′9 in shape i never had Much fat or anything but i was also more of a large framed girl,
This does not automatically make me fat!

I’ve gained a few pounds but you can’t really tell as because of my height i have always looked alot slimmer than what i actually am. Might this be why i aren’t showing as much with my babies, the doctor hasn’t raised any problems but you can’t help but worry sometimes.

Thank you ^_^

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the size you are; your doctor doesn’t seemed worried about it therefore neither should you. Every woman carries the weight differently, my goodness I wish I were built like you instead of a 5′0 med frame.. all of my weight goes straight to my tummy :D just relax, if everything is okay everywhere else then your size shouldn’t matter.

What improves your chances of having twins?

Im just curious as to what i can do to improve my chances of having twins, is there vitamins or special foods that raise your chances…THanks

An old wife’s tale says that eating sweet potatoes will increase your odds.

Regardless of what you eat, your odds of having identical twins (not hereditary) are 1 in 285.

Fraternal twins occur when two eggs are fertilized. This means the mom releases two eggs instead of one. Therefore the mother’s family history is very relevant and increases your odds if you have fraternal twins on that side.

I have used Clomid at 50cc or mc..however its administered. I heard that there is another med that is more effective at having twins. I really would like to have them. I also heard eating Yams can help….?? Any truth behind that??

I had twins using 50mg Clomid (boy/girl, they are now 5 years old).

In general, Clomid probably increases your chances of having twins around 5% to 10% (there seems to be a lot of conflicting data). Your individual odds of having twins will depend on how many mature eggs your ovaries actually produce using Clomid. If you normally do not ovulate, and Clomid causes you to ovulate one egg, then your chances of twins have not been increased. However, if Clomid causes you to have several or more eggs, your chances may be higher than the average. You won’t know exactly how many eggs you have in a cycle unless your doctor does a vaginal ultrasound to count the egg-producing follicles that appear on your ovaries.

If you are using artificial insemination (IUI), your chances could be higher of having multiples if you use injectible fertility drugs; but again, your odds completely depend on your individual response to the drugs and the number of eggs you produce.

If you are undergoing IVF, your odds of twins depend on the number of embryos you transfer. If you only transfer one embryo, you haven’t increased your odds of twins, but if you transfer 3, you may have a good chance of having twins (or more) — but there are a lot of factors that affect these odds, such as your age.

As far as wanting twins, they are a special blessing. However, one-at-a-time is really the best way to go. It is not a pleasant moment to see "HIGH RISK PREGNANCY" stamped on your chart, and every multiple pregnancy is high risk. Twins have double the risk of birth defects, and are much more likely to be born prematurely, which can cause lifelong disabilities. Multiple pregnancy is no picnic — you may be put on bedrest and/or hospitalized for a long period.

Here are tips from about.com for ways to increase your chances of twins that do not involve fertility drugs (and yes, eating yams is one of them):

* Eat yams.
There are certain cultures that have more twins than others.
One of these is a tribe where they eat a lot of yams. There is a theory that it is a certain chemical in the yams that helps the women in this culture have more twins.

* Be breastfeeding when you get pregnant.
Recent studies show that if you are breastfeeding when you get pregnant that you are more likely to have twins. This is said to be caused by the depletion of calcium in your system while nursing and its effect on the egg during conception and ovulation.

* Be older when you get pregnant.
The older you are when you get pregnant, the more likely you are to have twins. This may be because of an increased ovulation of multiple eggs, resulting in more dizygotic or fraternal twins.

Good luck to you in conceiving soon!!

what are the chances of my sister having twins?

Our family: My mom is a twin, and so is my dad.
My mom has two sets of twins (identical 18yo; me and rebbekkah) (fraternal 23yo: Drew and Amanda)
My mom has a single child also, ashley.
Im having triplets if that has anything to do with it.
Ashley is pregnant and i was wondering what her chances are of having twins?

Identical twin is a mutated in the cells which is not genetics. But non identical twins can sometimes be genetically. (i think) So it depends on what type of twins, identical twins would be very hard to aim for but non identical twins can sometimes be common so he luck can be the same for anyone else.

I was curious as to if I were to get pregnant with my partner, what would be the chances of having one male and one female, twins? Neither of us have twins, triplets etc in the family. Would it be almost very unlikely to have twins then?

Naturally conceived fraternal twins tend to run in families because women who have fraternal twins release more than one egg per cycle, and this trait is an inherited trait.

I have fraternal triplets who are all boys which is rarer than mixed gender. For multiple pregnancies the chances of having the same gender is pegged at 12% while the chances of having mixed gender hovers at 33%.

How can I increase my chances of having twins?

I am currently trying to have a baby and I have always wanted to have twins. Twins run in my mums side of the family and my dads side but I want to increase my chances more to conceive twins. I have heard that if you eat certain foods like yam, can increase your chances of having twins but I just want to know what other things I could do or eat to help increase my chances?

While having twins (or more multiples) is still more chance than science, your chances of having twins may increase if:

1. You Use Fertility Drugs or Treatments

2. You are an Older Mom

3. Twins Run in Your Family

4. Your Track Record(more pregnancies you had, the higher the chance)

5. Weight and Height(if you BMI is over 30, chances are higher)

6. You are Nigerian

7. You eat a pre-pregnancy diet rich in dairy and animal protein.

8. Best Way to Guaranty you Have Twins

Although there are some things you can do to increase your chances of having twins, the only sure way to have twins in your family is to adopt. One of my friends has adopted not one but two sets of twins in her full house.
